Meditate
Psalm 19:14
New Living Translation (NLT)
14 May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
This scripture ties the words of our mouths to the meditations of our hearts. See, whatever we think about is what we're going to be talking about with our rather large mouths. Of course, there are always a few in every crowd who fail to think at all before they talk.
When someone talks about meditation, the image that usually surfaces in our minds is a Chinese-looking guy in a toga, sitting cross-legged, his eyes closed and his fingers in circles, humming in G minor. At least it does in my imagination.
However, to His eternal credit, this is not what God has in mind when He tells us to meditate. He's simply asking us to take a few extra moments in our day to really think about and mull over His Word. When you do, you'll gain new revelation and better understanding about how to make it work in your life. Try it!
